FIND NEW YEAR JOIE DE VIVRE AT A PIQUE-NIQUE IN THE YARRA VALLEY THIS SUMMER
Soak up the joie de vivre of summer in classic French style when tenth generation winemakers at Dominique Portet host pique-nique, petanque and Rosé at their Yarra Valley cellar door and winery.
Upon arrival at the rambling French-provincial style grounds, picnickers will be able to taste award winning wines at the Dominique Portet Cellar Door before settling down with a hamper filled with a selection the family’s favourite French foods.
Borrow one of the complimentary bicycles and take yourself on a cyclic tour of the grounds, then find a bench, shady tree or grassy nook and settle down to a spread of fresh buttery baguettes, duck rillettes, tinned sardines and a bottle of Dominique Portet Rosé – a sure summer classique.
Come the weekend bumper hampers will be offered with daily specials. Hungry picnickers can enjoy a Seafood special (16-17 Jan) and a South of France niçoise special (22-23 Jan) along with the regular picnic fare.
Once the pique-nique is complete, guests are encouraged to borrow the boules and conchonnett for a game of petanque, another French classic – and one that might inspire the Portets to join you in the field.
Pique-Nique with the Portets cellar door tastings, picnic hampers, bikes and petanque are available every day throughout January and February 2016 at Dominique Portet Winery & Cellar Door. Weekends will see additional summer menu specials.
